This is the business model we use when we are discussing strategy with any SME, or startup.

It covers the 6 main areas that every business has to master to really succeed.

It’s represented as an atom, with destination as the nucleus, and the other areas orbiting around it because while they are all important, vital even, they do fluctuate.

Sometimes it will be your mindset that keeps you going. Sometimes marketing will be the most important aspect. They are all important.

The areas are:

  • Destination – this is where you are aiming for, where you want to be in 3 years, 1 year, 3 months. If you don’t have a destination in mind, then frankly you are just wandering around.
  • Time – how do you manage your time so that you do what matters, when it matters, and you don’t waste it doing things that don’t matter. So how to stop procrastination.
  • Numbers – mastery of your numbers, budgets, analytics – if you don’t measure it, you will struggle to manage it.
  • Marketing – one of the absolute key areas. Marketing is about where you are now, who you are, and how you get to your audience. Remember, without marketing you have no customers.
  • Delivery – none of this will work if you can’t deliver because you don’t have the processes in place.
  • Mindset – sometimes the thing that stops you actually delivering is yourself, your mindset, the way you approach things. Sometimes stress gets on top of you and you simply can’t cope.

So it’s important to master, or at least to be trying to master, these areas.

How? Well that’s another conversation.
